Recognized for the richness of its voices, orthodox Russian music continues to captivate us with its beauty and timeless depth. Written in 1915, Vespers 37 are undoubtedly the ultimate masterpiece of the repertoire of the entire Orthodox Church. In this work entirely a cappella, Rachmaninoff presents the choral material as he would an orchestra, multiplying the passages where the chorus is divided into several voices, pushing the complexity of writing up to 11 voices. But it is first of all the liturgical character that this extraordinary choral virtuosity serves.
To this masterpiece of sacred music will be added Russian folk melodies that will bring rhythm, lightness and languor to this thematic evening conducted by three of the best choirs in Montreal.
A bar service on site will ensure that this Russian evening is the most festive!
