The Russian school “Gramota” completed the Living Chronicle of the 1941-1945 war project. – with the participation of Russian-speaking veterans from Montreal.

To mark the important date of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, the students and teachers of the Russian “Literacy” school decided to collect oral and documentary evidence from the Second World War, which was kept in Montreal.

In 2014-2015, project participants met eleven veterans from Montreal. The school archives now contain memories and unique facts about this heroic era. Among them are the stories of people from various professions – musicians, engineers, teachers – those who became the Red Navy, tank crews, doctors, snipers, infantrymen or selflessly worked in the military. to defend their homeland.

The project ended with a traditional meeting of veterans with children, which was held on May 2 at the “Literacy” school. On May 8, it was also presented at the Russian consulate during a gala evening in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory.

As part of the project, audio and video recordings of interviews with veterans, photographs and copies of documents were made. All the materials collected are published on the site www.memory.gramota.com (in Russian only).
